SCTA Foundation Grants: Open For Application

 

The SCTA Foundation, the charitable arm of USTA Southern California, has opened application opportunities for 2020 grants.

The Foundation awards program grants twice a year to programs that support at-risk youth and people with disabilities through tennis and education programs designed to improve health, build character and strive for academic excellence. To date, the Foundation has granted more than $12 million to fund 247 programs in 184 cities, including more than $900,000 to adaptive tennis and wounded warrior programs for people with disabilities.

 

The Kramer Grant
The Kramer Grant, which honors the legacy of the great Jack Kramer, is designed to support juniors between the ages of 8 and 18 who show significant promise, aspire to collegiate or professional tennis and demonstrate financial need, to compete in national or sectional tournaments, with the typical grants ranging between $800 and $1200.

The Talbert Grant
The Talbert Grant, in memory of the immense contributions of former Southern California Executive Director Henry Talbert, is designed to support juniors between the ages of 8-16 who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to improving their tennis, but whose families lack the resources to cover the cost of summer tennis camp tuition and fees. Preference is given to those juniors currently enrolled in NJTL programs, after school or Junior Team Tennis programs during the academic year who wish to continue playing during the summer. The typical grant ranges between $500 and $800.

USTA League, the country’s largest adult recreational tennis league, gets hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide competing, exercising and enjoying the camaraderie of teammates. Tennis is the sport of a lifetime! Play is based on the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) rating system so you will play with and against players of similar ability. Whether you are new to the game or a former player, there’s a spot for you. USTA League also offers you and your teammates a chance to advance from local play to USTA League National Championship events.
