“Signature Series” bringing Grand Slam feel to SoCal events in 2020

Following the success of elevated junior tennis tournaments in 2019, USTA Southern California announces the section’s Signature Series events for the new year, encompassing both junior and adult events across the 2020 competitive schedule.

The Signature Series events will reflect a Grand Slam-type atmosphere on a local level, rolling out pomp and circumstance as part of the section’s most prolific annual tournaments. Players can expect an immersive experience from the very first registration to the final trophy presentation, with new emphasis on food options, commemorative gifts, off-court engagements, and more.

The schedule of events opens with Southern California’s Tennis on Campus Sectionals, featuring multiple teams from up to 17 schools from across the region. Defending national champion UCLA will begin their journey toward a repeat when Sectionals kick off at Great Park in Irvine, February 15-16. In total, six of the schools will earn a berth in the USTA National tournament, slated for March in Orlando, Florida.

For the first time, competition in Senior, Wheelchair, and NTRP divisions will come together as part of an adult Super Sectionals event spanning two consecutive weekends beginning February 26 in Irvine. Later in March, the week-long International Open of Southern California comes to Carson, Calif. and features many of the top junior athletes in the game today. A Grade 1 ITF event, the “IOSC” begins with qualifying rounds on March 21.

This summer, Signature Series events include Junior Sectionals (June) and Adult Open Sectionals (July), followed later in 2020 by the Intercollegiate Championships of Southern California, Jim Hillman Junior Doubles Sectionals, and the Final 8 Junior Masters Championships.

Follow these Signature Series events on USTA Southern California social media platforms, or enjoy live competition courtside at each exciting event. Admission is free and open to the public.
