How To Qualify For The USTA NTRP National Championships

April 6-8, 2018 Surprise, AZ (18 & Over) April 20-22, 2018 Naples, FL (50 & Over)

In 2018, the USTA will hold the first annual NTRP National Tournaments, a new opportunity for tournament players. Tournament Format is Fast4 Round Robin.

The National NTRP Championships Divisions are 18 & Over 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Men & Women Singles & Doubles and 50 & Over 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Men & Women, Singles and Doubles.

Three players in each division, from the Southern California section will be invited to attend!!!!

So how do you qualify if you are a tournament player in the Southern California Section?

For the 2018 NTRP National Championships the Selection Criteria is:

  • The player holding the #1 position in the 2017 Final NTRP Ranking lists for the Southern California Section for each division will be invited to attend as the Section Representative for the NTRP 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Men’s & Women Singles and Doubles. One player in the 18-49 age group and one player from the 50 & Over age group will be selected.
  • The player holding the #1 position on the 2017 Final NTRP Grand Prix Point List for the Southern California Section for each division will be invited to attend as the Section Representative for the NTRP 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Men’s & Women Singles and Doubles . One player in the 18-49 age group and one player from the 50 & Over age group will be selected.
  • The champion in each NTRP division (3.5, 4.0, 4.5) from the new 2018 Section NTRP Fast 4 Championship Tournament will qualify to participate. The Section Championship will be held on January 20-21, 2018
    at Braemar Country Club in the San Fernando Valley. Men & Women Singles and Doubles will be played in each NTRP level.

One player in the 18-49 age group and one player from the 50 & Over age group will be the endorsed player into the NTRP National Championship.

If the winners of the division of the Section NTRP Fast4 tournament chooses not to attend, then the finalist will be offered that spot. If the finalist chooses not to attend, then then names will be drawn from the Semi-finalists and the spot will be offered to those people in order of the draw. This will continue through the Quarter finals, etc. if needed.

If the #1 player on the NTRP Ranking List is the same as the #1 player on the NTRP Grand Prix list, the player will be chosen from the NTRP Ranking list and the #2 player on the NTRP Grand Prix list will be offered the spot at the National Championship.

The Adult Tournament Committee will have authority over the rules of the selections. Their decision is final.
